A program of 10 small-scale, grid-connected Battery Energy Storage Systems across regional New South Wales — fully owned, developed, built and operated by ARCH.
The AVOLTA BESS program represents ARCH's commitment to building a replicable, standardised battery storage platform across regional NSW. Each of the 10 sites follows an identical design — approximately 4.5–4.9MW / 15MWh per site — enabling streamlined engineering, bulk procurement, and consistent quality assurance.
ARCH develops, builds, operates, and maintains BESS projects across the full project lifecycle — from initial investment, site acquisition, grid connection agreements, EPC delivery, and commissioning through to long-term operations and maintenance.
With integrated capability under one roof, ARCH provides clear accountability and efficient project delivery. We welcome collaboration with companies that share the same commitment to developing renewable energy projects and expanding opportunities in the Australian market.
The program leverages WELTRUS 5MWh DC ESS technology as its core energy storage platform — a proven, utility-grade solution that has been deployed across hundreds of projects worldwide. By standardising on a single DC equipment brand, ARCH achieves economies of scale in procurement, simplifies spare-parts logistics, and ensures uniform performance monitoring across all sites.
The flagship site at Gulargambone (64 Box Ridge Road) has already secured grid connection with Essential Energy's 66/22kV substation, with a Connection Service Agreement signed in September 2025 and the Connection Information Report received in February 2026. DNSP confirmation of up to 4.3MW connection on existing feeder provides firm capacity for full-scale deployment.
ARCH invests, develops, builds, operates and maintains every project — ARCH also welcome like-minded partners to join us in investing in and developing BESS projects.
Standardised DC equipment across all 10 sites — bulk procurement, uniform performance, simplified O&M.
Sites across 8+ regional locations — from the Central West to the Riverina, covering key NEM load centres.
Identical engineering across all 10 sites enables rapid deployment, learning curve benefits, and consistent ROI.
ARCH manages the complete project lifecycle — from investment through to long-term operation — ensuring full accountability and maximum value capture at every step.
ARCH provides full capital investment across all 10 sites — total program CAPEX of $63.97M AUD, structured in phased payments aligned with project milestones.
Site identification, land lease negotiation, council approvals, and DNSP grid connection agreements — all managed in-house by the ARCH development team.
EPC delivery through the ARCH–WELTRUS landmark agreement. Standardised design enables parallel construction across multiple sites with consistent quality.
Long-term asset operation and performance optimisation — revenue generation through energy arbitrage, frequency control ancillary services (FCAS), and grid support.
Dedicated O&M program with 24-hour response guarantee. Joint venture between WELTRUS and ARCH ensures technical expertise and local support capability.
Strategically located across regional New South Wales to maximise grid value, capture FCAS revenue, and support energy resilience in growing load centres.
All 10 sites share an identical design envelope — enabling standardised engineering, bulk procurement, and consistent performance.
The AVOLTA BESS program is designed with a clear future upgrade path. Once operational, each site can be retrofitted with:
Add DC-coupled solar PV to enable self-cycle operation — reducing grid dependency and improving project economics.
Retrofit heavy-duty EV trailer charging — transforming each BESS site into a multi-functional clean energy destination.
Whether you're an investor, landholder, or energy partner — ARCH welcomes conversations about project participation, site hosting, and collaboration opportunities.
